In collaboration with
foreign language and other program areas at WSU the FLTC hosts
a foreign film evening every week for students enrolled in foreign
language, literature and culture courses. These screenings are
intended to enhance students’ learning experience by adding
rich cultural and contextual information to their knowledge-base
and help refine their linguistic skills. Students and faculty
have an opportunity to see significant historical and contemporary
works of foreign cinema. Some of the films presented are not mainstream
cinema and difficult to find. Typically, film screenings start
with an introduction by faculty, and end with a discussion after
the screening. The audience is encouraged to stay and participate
in the discussion.
Most of the films have English subtitles and are screened in our
multimedia-equipped rooms on a large screen. All films are open
to WSU students and faculty interested in foreign languages, literature,
culture, and cinema.
