The translation of the latter appears as entry 36 in volume 1, The Desert Island and other texts.

11. Désir et plaisir 112 [Desire and pleasure] In Magazine littéraire 325, Oct. 1994; a letter addressed to Michel Foucault in 1977, after the publication of History of Sexuality I (1976). These are notes, organized A to H, that Deleuze sent to Foucault through the intermediary of François Ewald. According to Ewald's account that accompanies the notes' publication, Deleuze wanted to show his friendship and support to Foucault who was going through a crisis, at the time of the book's publication.
12. Le juif riche 123 [The rich Jew] In Le Monde 18 February 1977, about Daniel Schmid's film, "L'Ombre des anges." After the Minister of Culture forbid projection of several films during 1976, and Schmid's in February 1977, fifty or so public figures, including Deleuze, signed a petition to protest "the irresponsibility consisting of not analyzing the structure of a film" and "acts of violence that forbid the projection of a film."

The first paragraphs are repeated and substantially developed in this book, in the chapter on strata, while the rest of the text has not appeared elsewhere except for a few passages.

These tests belonged to a projects on "Ensembles et multiplicities" of which these are the only texts. Deleuze had hoped to deepen the concept of the virtual that he felt he had not sufficiently discussed.
